New Monitor - Calibration

Post by wisoka »

Bought a new monitor because one of mine puked out on me. I really like it except the colors seem to be way off. I generally don't notice if i stare at it for long enough but when I go into tf2 and the characters in the background look more orange than red or the blue guys look more green than blue, i tend to notice. I've trying playing with a few different programs but nothing seems to be right. It's gotten to the point where I think my eyes are broken rather than the monitor. Any suggestions?

I wouldn't buy a cheap monitor and thanks for the help sandwich. I forgot about the nvidia tool and that seems to have helped a bunch. Things look normal again.

If you are serious about calibrating your monitor, I suggest something like this:

http://spyder.datacolor.com/product-mc.php

It's a bit pricey, but it will probably be the only one you ever buy.

If you have a TN panel, which most do there horrible. If you ever want a good panel buy a IPS panel. Dell has some of the best.

Good panel but it's 16:9 not 16:10.

I have the UltraSharp 2209WA IPS. Once you go IPS you never go back to TN.

My monitor is 16:9 and it's never bothered me. 1920x1080 is supported by every game I play, so it's never been an issue.

Take a screenshot of your desktop I would like to see it. I have never used that rez so I don't know. I heard that it has some weird scaling issues with windows.

Na, I use 1600x900 for everything on my laptop and it looks dead sexy. That's even after using 1920x1080 on my 21.5 desktop for years.
