I think it looks sweet. Maybe that's what I didn't care for about 2 was that it was a lot of the same stuff from 1. This seems very new and refreshing.

Holy shit, impressive trailer is impressive.

I completely agree Dan. I really loved Bioshock but I haven't played part 2 and it's probably for that reason. I knew part 2 wasn't going to give me the same reaction I had with the first installment, mainly because it was still set in Rapture.

This on the other hand has me really excited. I can't wait.

How does the same setting not get you excited? I never had that problem with any Zelda games or GTA's (oh great another city).

Bioshock 2 is worth it imo, im more afraid of this new setting changing everything we knew as "Bioshock" and what might be a poor attempt to do something new and crazy with the series.

Because those games were back to back, there was nothing really new. I got my fill of that setting on the first one. It's like I have steak one night, and then again the next night. The 2nd night, it's not going to be as good. There is nothing inherently wrong with the steak, but it gets old after you have it enough. I have the same feeling with any game and any environment. When paying $50 for a sequel, you expect some new content and new experiences, and I didn't really get that. You brought up GTA, and I felt the same way with that series... the games got very old and repetitive, which is why I haven't played any since Vice City.

However, there is a certain amount of fear when going into this new setting. They could end up totally screwing the pooch on it and it could bomb. I am just hopeful that they do it well. And seeing the quality of work they've done in the past, I am confident they can do well.

P.S. I have never had a fear of heights, but I don't care for the water, so maybe that has something to do with it :)

Personally, I thought 2 was an OKAY game. It wasn't that great, even as hyped as I was for it. I mean jesus, I went to midnight release party, went to a convention hosted by 2k, everything. The game just lacked that superstar quality that 1 had. They had SO much to work with, yet we didn't get a lot of what fans really wanted. We saw such a limited amount of the city, we saw no connection to the first game, and we saw that after the first few hours, it was like were playing a completely different game set in the same place. I don't think that's what people were itching for.

Bioshock 1 didn't have multi-player, so what did people buy it for? The story, the thrill, and the drama of the single-player element. The 2nd installment lost that lack-luster imo. We were in the same city, and besides a few "okay" areas such as Ryan's Amusements, the game lacked Anything new. That's why it wasn't as big of a hit. There was so much potential in that game, and I think that's why people were really disappointed in 2. Think about that feeling you got in 1 for the first time when you're descending the lighthouse on the bathysphere, and you hear Andrew Ryan's stoic voice, and curtain whips open to reveal.... RAPTURE! Did you get that feeling even once in two? I didn't, and BS gave me it in the first 5 minutes...

As far as the sequel goes, I think it's way too early to tell, but I hope I can feel the same way about this game as I did about BS.
