Custom Hud Guide
Simple guide on custom huds and how to customize them. Anyone's input would be greatly appreciated. I want to make this a sticky post so people can actually use this as a reference.
For all the tf2 players wondering what a custom hud is, you've come to the right place. The Head-up display, or HUD, is a system for quickly relaying important information to the user. It appears as various tabs surrounding the player's view in-game.
Default Hud:
As you can see it shows the score, your ammo and reserves, as well as your health. All useful information is located on the hud. You may ask why you would want a different hud. The answer is simple, some people prefer to have the information given to them in different placements and less graphical and more straight to the point.
Custom Hud's:
Calcy's Hud:
Download this hud at http://calcy-tf2-hud.googlecode.com/fil ... ed_hud.zip.
PVHud:

Re: Custom Hud Guide
Maybe you can help goose...
I used Oxide's HUD, and when I played, my video was so jumpy. I didn't check my FPS, but it seemed to have dropped SIGNIFICANTLY. Any ideas?

Re: Custom Hud Guide
Sorry Goose, was stickying the topic and fucked something up. Read what you posted though.
Anyway, I WAS in an idle server... I should've checked if that was the problem.
I'm hesitant to re-apply it. Do you really think custom HUD's are that great after you've played as long as we have?

Re: Custom Hud Guide
I switched to PVHUD and love it.
It's similar to the default but the damage notification, large health, and ammo is well worth it. It also cuts down on all the other clutter.
Don't test in the idle server, I was having problems with everything in there.

Re: Custom Hud Guide
+1 on PVHUD - Thanks for the heads up Goose. Granted using these won't make you Roland overnight - but it's cool to try them out. I started customizing my own HUD - let me know if you are interested.
Takes some screen view away - but you can see enough.
