Re: onboard audio vs. a sound card
thats probably why you cant hear people ur on speakers.
you could get a sound card and run a headset through the on board for voice and use ur speakers on sound card

Re: onboard audio vs. a sound card
I used to use Creative but they have some of the worst driver support out there. If I had to buy an Audio card now I would buy ASUS Xonar cards.Stephen wrote:depends if you have good speakers to.

However, Stephen nailed it on the dot when he said it depends on whether you have good speakers. Buying a good set of speakers will do 100x more for you then an audio card would if your current speakers are not very good. Good speakers are costly though. There is also a difference between on-board sound and an audio card, but for 99% of the people, the difference is not worth the upgrade.

Re: onboard audio vs. a sound card
not sure when u owned one last but there drivers are solid now.
and even then you could use third party drivers and work fine.
auzentech now makes the xfi brand mostly and there drivers are pretty solid as well aside from the shielding issues causing ground loops
