ZF: Perks or No Perks?

There was a big update to the ZF mod a couple days ago that adds perks for Zombies and Survivors.

The "Vanilla" version without perks is also going to be maintained, so do which version do we want to run?

This sounds like a great idea.

But we would definitely have to disable quite a few of the perks.

IMO, these ones:

Sadistic: because then people would just let their partner die on purpose.
Traitor: griefing much?

Combustible: This is the most stupid perk I have ever heard of.
Sick: talk about sandman all over again.
Swarming: IMO, this would just make everyone just rush as spy.

I've been seeing people come to the atg server alot and type in perks and whatnot, and then question why there are no perks, to which I usually respond: wtf is a perk?

So here's what I think:

SURVIVORS
Perks I like:

Juggernaut: This would actually be a pretty fun perk to screw around with if you don't feel like being a team player :P

Medieval: Sounds like a lot of fun

Relentless: This would be good in a bind, but at the same time can be quite a big loophole if you're camping(or if you're the retarded demoman who can't seem to not blow himself up)

Selfless: This would be an interesting one, both good and bad in a sense. Good if you're pinned down tight, but could be a real game breaker if there are a few survivors left with little time.

Perks I Don't Like:
Angelic: We already warn people to not go up to places a zombie can't reach and this just promotes it more :\

Brothers: You already get primary ammo for killing a zombie, and if you kill enough you generally get a bit of health back. Seems a bit redundant / overkill for a survivor and it might make certain maps that are already hard to win as a zombie: even harder.

Heroic: It seems cool and all, but 100% crits if you're last is kind of overkill. If you're good at zf then you'll easily get instant crits on your own when you keep killing zombies in succession(I can solo fortress this way as a backburner pyro)

Inspirational: Basically a buff banner with a side effect and no catalyst.

Sadistic: Overkill but in a good way I guess :\

Stir-crazy: Huge overkill on capture point maps, since you constantly move on those


Turtle: Basically you're slow as a heavy and get four razorbacks...no just no...

Wise: It's an eyelander for everyone without the speed boost and you get a defense penalty...but people camp most of the time so I say no to this one.

The perks I just don't get:
Resourceful: Doesn't this already happen?

Traitor: Lol why would you use a perk like this unless you wanted to be a douchebag?

ZOMBIES
Perks I Like:
Cocoon: This sounds awesome, but it seems like it'd be a pain to get it to work lol

Leap: Oh hell yes, I will pounce you all like a hunter from L4D

Most of the zombie perks are pretty decent, within a few margins of error.....

Perks I Don't Like:
Alpha: Seems cool, but not sure if it would unbalance the game.

Perks I Don't Get:
Rage: but...we...have this...already...









THE CONCLUSION?

Give it a test run, I like some of these perks, but I hope they don't unbalance zf too much.

Some of the perks sound nice, but we would have to choose carefully which one's we include; there's already enough raging on the server as is. Its not possible to make only some perks available on some maps is it? Say for example, make the more useful perks available to the team that usually loses on the harder maps or ones that aren't so evenly balanced.

Also, does the selfless perk remind anyone else of the CoD World at War perk where you drop a grenade when you die?

I like it simple. I go in I have one job. I don't want to mess with picking perks. If I want to use perks I'll play MW2.

might as well, i started setting up w3s server on dodge ball but just doesnt seem to have the fun factor that css one has.

That wouldn't be a bad idea actually: 2 zf servers would be kind of nice due to the big influx of players that like to play zf.

like desseler said before would we have the option to get rid of some of the perks because lets face it when people have the option to be assholes on the internet there going to be.

Also i think that the founders, globals, managers, community team, and the people who admin it should test it out on the ATG server before we go and open it
