Speaker problem

Post by SanVich » June 17th, 2014, 4:59 pm

So my speakers were working fine last night, but then lightning struck down and knocked out my power. So I said fuck it and went to sleep. I woke up and was watching some netflix today and noticed the sound was a bit distorted so I was testing each of my speakers in a config tool (where you click each one and it makes a sound). I have found that my center speaker no longer makes any sound. My sub woofer also doesn't make any noise anymore for bass. It's kind of odd since all the speakers are plugged into the sub and the sub has 3 jacks running to my sound card. I tried unplugging and replugging them all in but I get nothing. Is my center speaker and sub bass dead?

here are my speakers: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/s ... eaker-z506

and this is my sound card: http://us.store.creative.com/Creative-S ... 54PTT2.htm

There might be a fuse in the sub that would be blown

But that would most likely cover all the speakers

Yeah that's what I would think too. But it just seems like the bass is out on the sub and the center speaker blew. Kind of old speakers too though. The power button on them is a spring push button and it doesn't always stick so my speakers randomly turn off sometimes. Think it might be worth replacing them with a new set of speakers?

Could be a loose connection.

Or the output channel on the sound card is dodgy? Kind of doubt it, but it could also explain why certain pairs of speakers don't work but the sub does?
