Does the whole internet connection fail? or just you & anything hooked up to your 2nd router?

It could be your splitting the cable too many times. I had this issue in my apartment when I moved in, the splitter coming out of the wall that fed the TV and Cable modem was one in a series of splitters. Long story short, my Signal to Noise ratio at the modem stunk, and so the internet worked like garbage, but removing one of the splitters upstream of the one coming out of the wall improved it dramatically.

Tv uses a fair amount of bandwidth not that that is your problem

But like you said ur the only one effected so its ur pc, do spyware nd junk check
Update nic drivers if avaible

If you can pop another nic card in

ive been on google dns for year or two now, since my provider is sometimes slow at flusing
