Overlord Monitor

Post by PRETENDICA »

I want to get a bigger monitor. I'm selling all my eyefinity shit on eBay, and I want to get a bigger monitor. I see Koreans make a 27 inch ips super high resolution, but I don't want to use eBay for something in Korea. then I found overlordcomputer.com, you guys know anything about them? you can over clock the most expensive one to 120Hz but 500+ dollars is a lot of money.

Have you used an IPS display before? I love the one in my iMac, the viewing angle and colour is better than any monitor I've ever used before.

They're expensive, but I would say they're worth the price.

I got my IPS screen at Microcenter. Identical to the Korean ones, but with a store in the US you can return to. I believe they will ship too.

$400 for a 27" 2560x1440res that uses the SAME panel as the Apple Home Cinema. Also has Display Port, HDMI, VGA, and DVI inputs, something most of the Korean ones don't (most are dual-link DVI only). It has a crappy stand, but I mounted it onto my dual monitor mount with one of the 22" (just fits) as it has a standard VESA mount, so I didn't care.

Apparently they now have an anti-glare coating versus the glossy (though not obnoxiously glossy) I have. People are saying the new AG panels are likely the same ones as the Dell U2713HM.

Here's a great thread on them, pretty dang long though. http://www.overclock.net/t/1257538/micr ... t_17248938

Overclocking to 75Hz seems to be about the cap, you have to pay a fair bit more for one that will go higher at that res.

O yea, I LOVE my screen. Playing BL2 and the like at full res is insane.

i use this and i love it will never settle for under 120hz again
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6824236206

everyone has there own prefrence when it comes to a monitor, for me i perfer much greater response time as my hardware is extreme. as oppsed to wider viewing angle i dont care for as i am always center, and for miner colour difference just not worth the speed reduction to me.

they do make a updated version to this that is 144hz with no 3d glass's (something i dont use anymore)

what's the difference between response time and the hertz? I know lower response time is better and higher hertz is better, but do you notice the biggest difference with the rt or the hertz. if I wanted to future proof, I should look at 144Hz?

They pretty much go hand in hand. Alot of pro gamers were still using crt monitors before 120hz came out, cause lcds couldnt keep to to there snappy actions

Its also why people who speedrun games are so insistant on using CRTs instead of LCDs.

Well, I want to go for maximum resolution AND maximum refresh rate via Hertz. Like a monitor at WQHD (2560×1440) @ 144Hz. Like a 27 inch. I have a 23.6 inch one now, so I'm looking to go bigger.

Amazon has this one for 467.xx ASUS VG Series VG278HE 27-Inch Screen LED-lit Monitor

That's pretty close to what I want. 27 inch, nice, 144hz, nice nice, it's even 3d. I'd bet within this year we'll see wqhd 27 inch monitors @ 120hz or higher. And it'll be ips. The overlord Oc 27" are around 530. That's a big difference.
