So I'm an idiot because Sandvich has a 1366 board, so no Intel 6GBps ports. Thus he gets to use the Marvell ones, which while not as good as a real 6GBps port (Intel), they still do way better than SATA 3GBps ones.

how can I be sure I'm running in ahci? That part seems a little tricky. I thought I installed drivers when i installed windows, but how can i check to make absolutely sure? Also, I think i have the same drive as you, Stephen... ocz vertex 3 max iops 120gb, what ahci driver should I be using with my AMD mb, do I use the marvell ones or the amd ones? That is if i have to reinstall to make the fucking thing work in ahci.

You set it in bios and it should do the rest and you would use amd if ur using the correct sata ports marvel is addtional
