Magus wrote:As far as I can tell, all the parts have been shipped except the GPU. But they were all shipped a few hours apart so I'm not really worried. I'm looking forward to this, but plan on me having an ASSLOAD of questions after/around Christmas *when i'll be assembling*. I'll try to give you guys a solid day in this thread, so maybe a few of you could be around to help while I'm building? I could probably hook up my laptop and webcam even.

Regardless, I'm very excited. Also... Should I buy a non-stock heatsink?? I don't think I should yet b/c it's gonna be about a year til I look into overclocking, but what do you guys think?
RE: Heatsink. The stock will be okay without overclocking but not stellar. The stock heatsinks (both Intel and AMD mind you) are cheap-feeling things. But at stock it is designed to cool sufficiently. But if you get an aftermarket one, check out Zalman, they have some of the best overall ones, though they can be big (like my copper bloomin' onion of death, lol).

So you'll have all your parts in the next few days and will wait 2 weeks to assemble? Wow, you've got more patience than me XD I'll assume final exams are to blame. If I'm around I'd be more than willing to help you if needed. Others would too I am sure.

I am like a little kid as soon as I get the boxes out of the UPS truck drivers hands I start building before his truck is out of the neighborhood.

I can't because I knew that's how I'd be. I purposely had them shipped back home so I wouldn't have access to them until finals are over

+1 on this, Made many builds with these, they're awesome.

Heard many good things, not much bad about that CPU cooler. +1.

As for the GPU fan, if it's anything like the one on my 560TI, it's pretty darn quiet (my Zalman CPU fan is louder). That Asus one has a non-reference HS/fan, so I wouldn't be concerned.
