Case and PSU are fine, CPU is decent but with the Intel i5-2500k being on sale at the same price point lately, the Intel would be a better deal. MicroATX board which is fine if you don't think you'll ever SLI/XFire, nothing wrong with it though. RAM is nothing special, but nothing awful. Slow hard drive, but for data drive it's fine.

The major red flag for me would be that SSD. That's a previous-generation SSD (which is fine), but it's also a drive of mixed reputation based on a very temperamental and glitchy controller (Sandforce). It might work fine, it might be DOA, or it might work fine for 3 months and then randomly crap out (which happens a LOT with OCZ and really any drive based on Sandforce).

Overall a decent combo but nothing stellar. Reasonable price I suppose.

You can probably do better than that by finding combos that just have two items. You get more freedom with your parts, and 3 or 4 pairs with $10-$15 combos will come out to give you more or less the same combo discount.

See, I would but I'm not sure when he's looking at upgrading or if he's willing to wipe everything for me :(

Wipe/resinstall is so very basic you wont have much trouble.

Wipe is easy. Click a few buttons and poof! :D

My system is just a bit too far removed from modern for me to recommend for gaming. It's still solid, but your money would be better spent on something more recent (as in possibly upgradable down the road, my socket is long discontinued). Also, I don't know how soon you are looking to purchase, but I'm a minimum of 6 months from doing my new build. I'm waiting to see how Ivy Bridge ends up looking (release in early April it appears) and if it looks good, I'm still going to wait for the initial kinks to be worked out of the completely new manufacturing process.

Mullet's combo there is a ridiculous build. It will run circles around what you were looking at earlier Magus, and includes a very good GPU and CPU. Basically for the same price too since your combo didn't have a GPU. Also all top-line brands on every component, rare to see in Newegg's combos.

The CPU and GPU are out of stock at the moment, Newegg just had a sale on the 2500K over the weekend, but my guess is things will be back in stock in the next few days.

Also has a $10 rebate on the PSU and $20 on the GPU.

You might find similar components over several 2-3 piece combo deals that might net you a case you like better (although that one looks pretty solid) or stuff like that. Perhaps even a few bucks less. But the basic build of i5-2500K CPU, 560TI GPU, 2x4GB 1600MHz RAM, 750W PSU will give you great performance and room for the future (ie you can SLI on that PSU no sweat, move it to a new build, or whatever).

My only worry with stuff being out of stock is by the time stuff comes back in stock, might the combo be gone?

Also, all I need to add to that is a dvd/cd drive, yeah?
