Re: I need help upgrading my PC
If you're looking to upgrade just your processor I see you have a socket LGA775 E2200 processor right now. I would suggest getting a quad-core Yorkfield processor. Newegg only has the Q8300 recertified processor for $135 right now, but stick around and look for deals, especially with Black Friday coming along.
Just to give you an idea of the difference your E2200 posts a benchmark of 1246 on this site while the Q8300 posts a 4609. Take these benchmarks with a grain of salt though, as they are not fully indicative of real-world performance.
Benchmark site: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php
For these prices though if you are willing to spend that high, it might be better to wait until Microcenter has the i5-2500k on sale for $150 again and just get that plus another $50 for mobo.

I wonder if those will fit in this case, thats why i was just gonna start saving money now and by black friday i should have enough to buy a whole new system.

Is there a Specific reason why you have mATX in your search Parameters? Is your case really that small?
If not then this is My Pick:
http://www.microcenter.com/single_produ ... id=0364229
If so then the problem with the mATX is it's rare to find a 8x/8x Crossfire/SLI compatible board. Most aren't Crossfire or SLI ready at all, and some are 16x/4x which is somewhat a significant decrease from the 8x/8x(A performance decrease of up to 25%). But if you don't have a choice this would be my pick.
http://www.microcenter.com/single_produ ... id=0358071
This board supports both SLI and Crossfire at 8x/8x (which I believe is the only one in the list that does, Unless the Specs from Other sites are wrong)
But IF YOU CAN, go with ATX instead of mATX.

He has an HP Pavillion A6400f Desktop PC. The current motherboard inside this is a mATX board. I have not been able to find any information on whether this HP case can fit an ATX board.

Alright, This looks somewhat to your case.
So it doesn't look like an ATX will fit. So my second choice stands.

Re: I need help upgrading my PC
spend couple extra bucks and get yourself a new case dont limit yourself to a shitty matx board.
the chipsets on them are horrid

even somethign basic like that will be not bad espically for 21 bucks

Re: I need help upgrading my PC
I'm sorta thinking that. The HP he has right now I'm sure never reached that high of a temp with the E2200 CPU it had. He's going to be putting in an i5-2500k and a GeForce GTX 560. I know he has a fan in the front of the PC but I don't know of any others in the case. The airflow may be very restrictive within the case.Stephen wrote:spend couple extra bucks and get yourself a new case dont limit yourself to a shitty matx board.

I just built a computer with this case: http://www.microcenter.com/single_produ ... id=0323929
For $28 after rebate I think it's a better deal then then one you posted.

there are always deals on cases, make sure you get free shipping, or it will tank your deal.

Re: I need help upgrading my PC
There's no such thing as free. The shipping price is built into the cost.
Re: I need help upgrading my PC
Already ordered the Mobo so nothing i can do about that, if i see a mATX case at Microcenter tomorrow that isnt too expensive ill think about it.
