34 pages yesterday, 46 now...all people with the same problem I am guessing (not gonna read all that, but glancing around suggests it).

personally i never had one problem with vista, i still switched to 7 for dx11 but my brother is using vista now and still no problems.

the only real problem was a launch for the lack of drivers

Same for me. I did notice that most of the Users that did have problems, had PCs that could barely run XP. At that point it was lagging and crashing a lot.

I also switched to 7, I do like 7 more than Vista.

Vista was rushed to release before it was done. After SP1 it wasn't too bad, but I still waited for 7. Much nicer.

A better one for you Newman: Remember Windows ME?

I've only heard of Windows ME nightmares, never dealt with it myself. I was still in highschool when it was out.

As did my mom...she bought XP like the day it came out. ME kept crashing her video drivers (as in deleting them...)

I was an early adopter for Win 2000 Professional and XP. Both of these launches had very limited driver backup for the first year. My experience with XP turned me off of it so badly that I did not use XP for another few years. I would say this was a chronic failure with all OS launches by MS until Win7 which is the first one they seem to have done right.

Agreed. I took a gamble on the RC of 7 and installed it about 6 months before it came out, and was blown away by how even in that stage it was very well supported (and even if there weren't 7 drivers, the Vista ones usually worked.). It even worked with my printer that HP said would not work under ANY 64-bit OS. I had it working in XP 64 with some trickery, but 7 just said, Hey, there's a printer here, let's use it with no fuss.
