Wireless adapter keeps crapping out on me

Post by Light Of Darkness »

So doop de doop I'm playing TF2 when all of a sudden my wireless adapter dies.
No connection, cannot find other networks.

Currently reinstalling drivers, although I doubt it will work.

It's a Belkin G Plus MIMO USB Network Adapter.
<cries for help>

Posting this from my mind.

This has been happening ad nauseum (I.e more than zero)

I google'd around and found that this issue is apparently caused by magical hobgoblins that disappear when you fulfill obligations that are changing faster than the Knights who say (or used to say) Neet (Kneet? niit?)

SHORT VERSION: The problem is caused by magic and solved by magic.

Problem: Belkin
Solution: Not Belkin

Seriously, I had a Belkin wireless router that would randomly lose it's internet connection all the time for no reason. Turns out this is a common issue with their routers. Probably a similar deal with their wireless adapters.

Got me a good-old WRT54G Linksys router, not a problem since (though it does interfere with my good mouse, so I had to move it to a different spot).

Linksys has never crapped out on me. I've had bad experiences with belkin and D-Link. Usually to improve speed on my router I change the channel that it is transmitting, b/c if you have a lot of neighbours that have wifi, they will probably have it on the default channel so they interfere with each other.

Strange thing being that my dad's laptop has no problems on Wi-Fi.
Ah well, I'm getting a new adapter soon anyway, to replace this POS.
Also, SandvichSpy, I paid for 6 and should not be getting pings of 1000+ on 24/7 Badwater.

Yeah it does that to me too. It's because you opened the server list to choose a server(gay I know), but if you give it like 30s - 1min it should return pings to normal
Except it doesn't, I actually get pings of 1000+ INGAME on occasion.

Sandvich, your's is a rare bug, most people I know do not have that behavior. They tend to be a bit higher in the browser than actually in game, but rarely more than 2x. Light has another issue somewhere.

*reviving thread because I can't be bothered to make a new one*
My Netgear WPN111 is slower that a retarded turtle on stilts.
Google'd around and the general answer seems to be "The drivers suck"
Any fixes out yet? Everything I've seen is dated from 2007.
