ATI err.. AMD 6000 series out

Post by Stephen »

http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-hd ... x-review/1

benchmarks dont look to great right now, drivers still premature.

prices are spot on though.

i sense these are the lower line of the cards right now, im guessing they have tech for much faster cards but are waiting to see what nvidia's gonna do before they release the monsters.

with these new cards at 2/3 of the price of 5870's and 480's with pretty much on pair performance its good deal

Wow.

1 month ago, computers invented. 1 week ago, gaming video cards invented. 2 days ago, 4000 series released. yesterday, 5000 series released. Today...
WELL DON'T THAT BEAT ALL.

I have a radeon 4650, cost me like 50 bucks so i was hoping for a new series to come out. I need an upgrade bad. The only thing is, my 8800GT let me alt-tab in tf2, but radeon doesnt.

So im leaning towards nvidia cards this time. Guess ill wait and see.

SandvichSpy wrote:Hmm, my nvidia cards keep fucking up and having display driver crashes on tf2...maybe I'll look into these if they're just as good as the 5000 series, yet cheaper. What are they pricing these cards at and where do you think the price range will go from there?
Sandvich, that's the shitty drivers for you. I can't remember the last nVidia driver that didn't do that, I don't think there was one. I too am considering AMD/ATI in my next gaming build, which won't be for a while yet. My current box rocks.

I am impressed with the performance/power on those though Stephen.

Do you haev a GTX280 in sli? If so that seems like a massive waste of money. I'm not sure what kind of games and resolution you need to be playing to justify that but im pretty sure i can get a decent computer built for roughly $500...

not to mention power costs

Meh.. they were pretty cheap. I picked up the first one for free for doing some work for a friend. Got the second on ebay for $200. I play at 1920x1080 on a 32" screen. I like my games to run well... and yes it uses a ton of power. Under full load, it will hit 700+ watts.

in my opinion crysis has way to many bugs and errors to even be considered a benchmark.

its more like which card can handle the errors better and not the frames

What errors in crysis lol? Aside from AA not working properly pre-patch, it seems fine
