I believe that is a setting you can change. I just opened my downloads window up and have downloads listed back to June 30.


PC: Tools > Options > Privacy

Mac: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy

I had to select "Custom" from the drop down box to see "Remember what I've downloaded"

Actually, IE is still about 60-65% overall share, FF is 20-25%, Chrome/Safari around 5-10% each, with the rest coming in below that. For more technical sites, FF gets a much larger percentage because those sites are largely visited by people who know that IE is terrible.

EDIT: I assume those stats are for ATG? If so, my last point stands.

Why do most use Fire Fox?

I switched to Chrome after realizing how fast it is. It really doesn't offer much else. I'm a simple person though.

Because Firefox was the best browser out there long before Chrome came along. Now Google continues its attempts to take over the world...I just haven't seen the need to switch. I like Firefox.

i believe i read somewhere that google actually reads info from your pc to help your search. im not sure if it was offline or online data. it's quite a creepy thought though.

This browser came out two years ago. It's extremely basic and fast! I dunno what happened to the company, but we loved it when we were testing alternate browsers for our web based aps. It runs on the IE engine so it was quite compatible with our office web ap.

IE still can't manage to be standards-compliant. IE 8 isn't too bad (it's actually pretty close but there are still a few ones that crop up all the time causing cross-browser compatibility issues), but it took them about 8 years longer than everyone else. Anyone who has coded websites feels my pain.

I know Google saves your search history for basically forever. And I'd heard they read stuff of your computer too, just not sure if that extended to online stuff (I know Picassa and other programs you install can)
