Razer Megalodon 7.1 Gaming Headset - Mic Fix

Post by Stephen »

http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-audio/razer-megalodon/

I recently bought these beacuse my Tutrle Beach HPA-2 Headphones fell apart, And id have to say these are amazing headset the sound is pretty accurate the sound deep perception is amazing compaired to 5.1. And the microphone is the only one so far to make my voice sound clear when it accualy worked.

There is one problem i had though, after 10 minutes or so the Microphone started cutting out. I tried everything from removing keyboard and mouse from usb i tried different ports, windows totaly updated.

Solution: Use a powered usb hub, I used my old rockband one that was sitting around. If you dont have one buy one, because it seem that the headset requires to much power that the motherboard can handle. Ive comfirmed this with razer even though they wont admit it in press release or something like that.

I'm not sure I'd ever buy another Razer product after how crappy their keyboard has turned out to be. I don't doubt they make other good products, but a $70 keyboard that has random keys that just stop working is fail.

Yea I'm not impressed with their mice either. Here's an idea make something that doesn't randomly stop working.

I've gone through 6 Razer Barracuda Head sets since I bought the first one. They've all had the same problem with the mic not connection right. I've keep getting the same headset because they are the best I've ever heard. At $130 they better be. Also, a tid bit of advice about Razer. If you don't purchase it from their website it doesn't have a warranty. If you buy it at Best Buy like I did, make sure you buy the extended warranty for $20. I've gone through 6 which would have cost me over $700. If you didn't buy the warranty like I didn't the first time, just buy a new set and put your old ones in that packaging and return it within 30 days. Works every time.

What kind of microphone should I use with a portable mini-disc player? I'm a musician and would like to record myself using a portable mini-disc player. How can I make sure the chosen microphone is compatible with the player? Have you got any suggestions as to what would be a good make/model? I'd be happy to spend £50 to £100 on a second hand one on ebay. Thanks in advance!

Does this work for all USB mics? Because mine cuts out all the time in TF2.

Could you guys recommend me a decent head set? My current one recently fell apart. I'm not looking for a game breaking head set. Just something with decent sound and a good mic.

I was hoping to find a headset that is compatible for PC and Xbox 360. I'm not even sure if that exists.

I probably wouldn't pay more than 50 bucks.

no this does not work with all usb headsets, razer has built in sound card, n firmware is only for it,

theres few different headsets that will work with pc and xbox. main company that specializes in it is Tritton

heres probably there cheapest pair they have, although its a canadian store they should have them in american ones

or i guess there some turtle beach ones too, i had a pair of turtle beach headphoens and they were awesome til they fell apart

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php? ... %20Systems

these ones are cheaper then tritton

both sets are not 5.1 due to price so low

Nice, thanks for the info. I think I'll wait until I get into heavy FPSing again before I purchase one of these.

shoulda got the analog version. usb headsets are garbage, they require to much power then the usb port can output. thats your main reason why.

Why not just go with a good quality pair of headphones that use a jack to plug into a sound card or speakers?
