An error occured starting Starcraft II. Please try again.

Post by Lord Melchior » August 20th, 2010, 6:59 am

So Molimo gave me a guest pass(thanks again) for Starcraft II.

I activated the key, and downloaded the client.

It downloaded, installed and patched normally, but whenever I try to start StarCraft II it gives an error message saying "An error occured starting Starcraft II. Please try again.".

I looked it up, checked the system requirements, checked my available RAM and HD space, I'm on an administrator account, firewall deactivated. Nothing works, it keeps giving the error. :/

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Here are the solutions i've found
1 – instaling game in different folder than default (Or use Default folder if you changed it)
2 – Turning off antivirus
3 - Reinstall DirectX
4 – Changing graphic card drivers for latest or ewen older ones (or using different card).

Try that and let us know

DARN YOU BLIZZARD!

...then why give away free guest passes?

and the same error happens to people who own the game.

Windows XP Professional 2002 service pack 3
AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor
3.20GHz, 3,12 GB
Geforce GTX 260

..I reckon it might be the video card.

Nah I doubt it's the video card itself, GTX 260 is more than enough to run this game. Here are more options people have used to fix this issue

1) Manually Install DirectX 9.0c

2) delete the "starcraft 2" folder in "my documents" and then re-install the game. in c:\program files

Other than that, that is all I can find. Sry
