I finally got it to work, fresh install from there, Origin still gives me the, "We're sorry, an error has occurred. There is a problem with your game's setup. Please reinstall your game."

http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/batt ... setup.html

Apparently I'm not the only one having this problem, and the EA support people have no idea how to fix it. Fanfuckingtastic.

"I'm in the same boat and I've done just about everything on any forum thats been recommended, try some of these solutions and let me know if they work.

-Update everything (windows, gpu drivers, ie9, set this as default)
-Trying running Windows in 32 bit
-Disable Windows UAC
-Try removing all cabinet files from the install/directx directory
-Clear the cache of Origin

So I've tried it all, worked with Origin and EA support and have made 0 progress, so best of luck."

tl;dr kitten's fucked sideways.

Did you try cleaning your Registry before reinstalling? (Uninstall, Clean Reg, Reinstall)

I don't know how to do that, but I don't know how it would make a difference.

Your Registry acts sort off like a Main Database for your PC. All your windows Information, Software etc.. is stored into it. When you uninstall a particular program, it doesn't necessary remove those items. So if a key is missing, it could cause your program to crash. It could be a simple key as to determine what Language it should run at. (90% of the time, If uninstalling and Reinstalling doesn't fix it, it's a registry problem)

So this would be my suggestion
  • Uninstall BF3
    Uninstall Origin
    Run a Registry Cleaner
    • (Try CCleaner, When opened click the Registry tab on the left and scan then fix)
Run it again to make sure everything unnecessary is gone
    Reinstall Origin
Reinstall BF3 (Using the Method Hulk linked)
If it still doesn't work after that, My guess is formatting.

THIS JUST IN.
I
FUCKING
WIN.

So, FIRSTLY, it turns out I had to download, and set as my default browser, Internet explorer. Then I was getting a different error where the game at least TRIED to start but shut down immediately. I discovered that for whatever reason, the ™ in the battlefield name was causing it to not work. I had to edit it out of the registry and all of the game/pathway files... but it FUCKING WORKS.

Nice, Glad you got it to work.

Like Keef said, Strange Fix but a Reg Problem doesn't surprise me.

Congrats on making BF3 work!

The superscript TM doesn't surprise me at all (well except the registry part), I've had some stuff not work because it had special characters in the past. That's why when I write code or name files that run on batch files or scripts I use no special characters and use underscore for spaces

You should sell that info to EA. I wouldn't ask for less than 6 figures.

I actually did try posting it in that topic, but EA keeps telling me I need to make a new account to respond, then has me login to my Origin account, then tells me I need to make a new account... nevermind.
