Battlefield: Bad Company 2 getting two DLC maps on day one

Post by Newman »

Video of the 2 new maps here: http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/25/battl ... -one-more/

Nelson Bay - Rush
Laguna Alta - Conquest mode
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will unlock two multiplayer maps on launch day, free to players that input a "VIP code" included with new copies of the game (think: "Project Ten Dollar"). VIPs will also gain free access to a second map pack, which developer DICE will airdrop later in March. If you purchase the game second-hand, you can access the VIP code separately via the in-game store (think: $15). We can already see a repeat of the Mass Effect 2 account confusion coming from five klicks away, so make sure your affairs are in order before you redeem the code.

BC2 Senior Producer Patrick Bach claims, "These first two map packs are just the beginning. We're planning ongoing support for the community by always keeping the experience fresh and ensuring the best possible gameplay experience." This is where Battlefield 1943 fans wipe the tears from their faces as they march toward a more modern battlefield.

+1.

As long as Valve keeps putting out new, free, tf2 content updates it'll be #1 game in my book.

I'm reading conflicting comments on the web. Some ppl are saying the map packs are free. According to a different joystiq article, "Also of note: the VIP code will be attached to your EA.com account" I looked on my ea account and didn't see shit.

OK here's how a co-worker explained it to me.
1. You buy the game.
2. Launch the game and EA says you've got vip maps, download them.
3. You play the game and completely suck ass.
4. You sell the game at gamestop.
5. Somebody buys your game, installs it but won't be able to download the vip maps without a vip account because they didn't buy the game at full price.

This only applies to the console versions of the game anyways, PC users can't return it anyways since the key is bound to your EA account I believe.
