LoL and dota 2 are so vastly different it's not even funny. The only things they have in common, really, is that fact that they are both MOBAs with a very similarly shaped map. Not hating, just saying that if you want to be good at dota 2 when it comes out, LoL isn't going to give you much of an advantage.

I think he's mostly saying that LoL might be a free way to satisfy some Dota 2 cravings.

Fair enough, but still. Don't advertise a car then sell someone a skateboard. I play LoL too, and i'm not hating at all.

Dumpling i know you've played dota and are good, but I've played dota too and I'm not saying the games are similar, but don't you think someone who can't even play LoL should maybe steer clear of dota2?

Not really, LoL is a lot different from dota. In fact I'd say it'd be better for someone wanting to start out in dota 2 to not play LoL. last-hitting with LoL's hardest heroes is easier than last hitting than the easiest of Dota's. I don't want to say it, but my last-hitting skills have gone to shit since i've started playing LoL; i've become lazy.

While I don't want idiots in dota 2, there will be millions of them, sadly. And just because someone can't play LoL doesn't mean they can't play dota, vice versa. My friend is amazing at dota/hon (1900 MMR in hon for those who know what it's about), yet he sucks balls at LoL. Like, it's painful to watch.

I don't want to be an ass about it, and I know I am being one, but again: LoL and dota 2 are completely different games. LoL is about static farming and ganking when possible, while dota is about non-stop ganking without the niceties of flash/exhaust/ignite/etc. If you want people to join LoL ad use your referral link, by all means do. I just don't think LoL should be used as a training ground for dota (use dota AI maps/HoN for that)

It used to be but then it was removed. No reason was ever given.

There was a tournament with a 1.6 million prize pool. also dota 2 is literally just dota as it is now on wc3 with improved graphics and engine

I heard they had some balance changes lined up for the beta, they just didn't bring them out because they didn't want to make changes that would require a team to re-practice with a new teamcomp
Hopefully they make a proper shop, something like LoL's.

I'm the biggest dota nerd i know personally. had 1.7ish thousand posts on the official dota forums before i quit. understood how every spell worked/all the game's codes and mechanics, etc. Was 1st in a few private leagues as an all-around player (ie: I played everything; carry, supprt, initiator/tank, jungler, roamer, so on).

@LoD: Nothing was changed as far as i know. Just not all heroes were available due to incompletedness. Most/all of the tournament viable ones were though. There probably/definitely will be changes once the beta becomes available through Steam.
