Re: Overwatch (Blizzard's TF2)
Pre-orders were just announced, and those who pre-order get both themselves and a friend into the open beta a few days early. All coming in May 2016. http://us.battle.net/overwatch/en/blog/ ... e-3-7-2016

Re: Payday 2
I gave up on the game during the whole hype train nonsense, it was all getting old. Then they immediately dropped in microtransactions. Yup, bye. Especially seeing how much money they made off just that one "campaign" to support creating finished content.

Re: Windows 10 will be Free
When I did the early preview, I used an old account that started with madmattd. It showed up as madma in Win10, so yes, likely a 5 char thingy. Very annoying, but I didn't care. I did the upgrade from Win 7 Pro to 10 Pro last week on my desktop, then as soon as I verified it showed as activated unde...

Re: Windows 10 will be Free
unless the key carries over to 10 That is what I assume is going to happen. I'm hoping there will be a way to get the upgrade and still do a fresh install of Windows 10. I put the early release or whatever it is called onto a VM last night to play with (you can get that in an ISO or as a "Wind...

Re: Help me not fuck up my build please
There used to be issues with resuming from sleep (versus a pure "shut down") on many SSDs, but I thought those were dealt with long ago :\ Your case sounds similar to those issues I recall hearing about though.

Re: Help me not fuck up my build please
Try setting your SATA controller that the SSD is on to IDE mode (or try RAID/AHCI - they do the same thing for this test - if it is set to IDE now). Your bluescreen issue sounds similar to what happens if you install Windows in one mode, then change the mode in BIOS without doing a registry change i...

Re: Speaker problem
Or the output channel on the sound card is dodgy? Kind of doubt it, but it could also explain why certain pairs of speakers don't work but the sub does?

Re: Sudden Death of Computer
Well that was an obnoxious waste of a month. Turned out it was some sort of weird short out in the USB 3 ports of a hard drive bay/USB 3 combo I put in the computer a year ago or so. I thought I had removed that (and all USB header cables) when testing initially since a USB issue was what started th...

Re: Sudden Death of Computer
did you also disconnect all headers from the board (front panel audio usb and such) I honestly don't remember. I think so, but who knows. I finally get my board back tomorrow so I'm hoping to somehow get it running. I have another Ivy CPU in another computer that I can use to eliminate the CPU as a...

Re: Sudden Death of Computer
Stephen, that's what I thought about the CPU. I had initially excluded a CPU issue figuring a POST would simply fail, but at least attempt. I'd be thrilled if it was just a stick of RAM, that's an easy and fairly cheap fix. Certainly worth trying all 4 sticks when the mobo comes back. It went 18+ mo...

Re: Sudden Death of Computer
If it is the cpu, and it's doing something funny, maybe unpower the cpu itself and see if the psu turns on when you flip the switch? The PSU is fine, powers other systems fine. No PSU works with this computer though. Can't hurt to give that a shot though. Murbuto, actually this mobo has a lot of wa...

Sudden Death of Computer
OK, a little dramatic of a title. But maybe not. Computer is the desktop in my sig. Haven't done anything to it but use it since I built it 18 months ago, no hardware changes or anything. A couple weeks ago my computer got stuck in a reboot loop (it would reboot when I hit "shut down"). So...
